Overview

Rick’s Cafe, nestled along the scenic Roosevelt Trail in Naples, Maine, delivers a refreshing blend of lakeside charm and contemporary dining that captures the spirit of this vibrant tourist destination. Situated with panoramic views of Long Lake and the White Mountains beyond, the restaurant offers an inviting outdoor seating experience that pairs perfectly with its casual yet thoughtfully crafted menu.

The culinary offerings focus on hearty, char-broiled sandwiches alongside a tempting array of seafood-centric casino sandwiches that highlight Maine’s famed lobster. From classic Reubens and triple decker clubs to ahi tuna and fish sandwiches, the variety caters to diverse palates. South of the border favorites such as nachos, quesadillas, and tacos add a lively twist to the menu, reflecting the cafe’s ability to mix comforting familiarity with regional flair.

Patrons consistently note the friendly, approachable service despite the restaurant’s embrace of digital innovation—ordering is done via QR codes, which streamlines the process but can initially feel unfamiliar. Once acclimated, guests appreciate the efficiency and quick turnaround, allowing more time to soak in the vibrant atmosphere. The balance between technology and hospitality is an evolving aspect, where the staff’s attentiveness helps maintain warmth in an otherwise fast-paced environment.

The space itself is a major highlight: the lively outdoor area buzzes with energy, featuring views ripe for people-watching of everything from classic cars and boats to motorcycles. Music often animates the environment, turning a meal into a memorable experience. For those seeking quiet relaxation, indoor seating offers a refuge away from the lively lakeside scene.

Rick’s Cafe clearly aims to serve a broad audience—from vacationers and local families to long-time residents seeking a convivial spot to unwind. Despite some remarks on the pricing, reflecting its prime location and tourist appeal, the quality of ingredients and genuine atmosphere justify the experience. It is a place where the natural beauty of southern Maine meets inventive casual dining, creating a relaxed yet engaging environment.

In summary, Rick’s Cafe is more than just a restaurant; it’s a community hub that embraces the lake’s energy and offers an honest taste of Maine hospitality, all while adapting modern service methods. For those visiting Naples or locals eager for a lively lakeside meal with great views, Rick’s stands out as a dependable and spirited choice.

Expensive but only because it is at a tourist location. A draught beer was $12. A burger $24. Had to use an app to order food, it took a while to get used to that. The service was fast once I had the app figured out. Awesome atmosphere, great scenery at the outdoor seating. All staff members very friendly.

This year we stopped in to eat at Rick’s after being told a table at Captain Jack’s was going to be a 90 minute wait. It was 5 pm on a Friday and they weren’t pleasant about it. No worries—Rick’s was around the corner and while they weren’t empty, we were seated almost immediately. We have been coming to Sebago for over a decade and this was our first time eating here. It has always seemed super busy and gimmicky but I’m glad to say I was wrong. We ordered apps (wings and calamari), the Bolognese for the kids to share and I got something from the Test Kitchen menu. We were pleasantly surprised by the food quality. Ordering is via a QR code and was simple, and food arrived quickly and with a smile. We were seated in the ground level, outdoors against the rail. It was fine for people watching. A stray frisbee from some bystanders nearly hit us but our waitress stepped in and asked them to be mindful. Would definitely consider returning again. Oh, as a bonus, they will accept reservations so as busy as it seems, getting a table shouldn’t be a problem.

A really nice spot to hang out and eat and drink on a summers day with excellent views of Long Lake and the White Mountains beyond. I'm not so comfortable with this digital menu process which in itself is great but to have a server expect a generous tip is questionable when none of the customer service qualities of politeness, attention to details, good memory of names, accurate ordering without writing down a thing, minimum wait time, etc.,  that make up great service are present  It's more like here's your app ordered food now hurry up and eat and move on. Next. That's the feeling I get a this place but still I like it all tolled but don't expect the same tip as a traditional restaurant.

This is my 1st time experiencing a digital menu & no tipping needed. It was an interesting experience! The waitresses were all friendly & very helpful. This $24 Mediterranean Rice Bowl was delightful. It comes with pita bread, but I asked for it to be held. It was filling & a great size. The outdoor views of Long Lake are attractive. Bring a sweater in case of breezes. The Cafe is also open at night.

I’ve been camping in the area for many years and moved here permanently a few years ago. Rick’s always seemed very crowded and was closed for quite awhile after the pandemic. Today we had company and decided to check it out. The food was great, the inside is pretty neat with some cool murals etc. The outside is great as well with views of Long lake, good people watching as well as interesting traffic with Harley’s, Boats, RV’s, and some classic cars. People driving by are not ashamed to hoot, beep and rev, etc. so if you want quiet, dine inside. We loved the outdoor atmosphere. A man was singing margaritaville style songs with guitar in hand and was pretty good.I really like ordering via the online menu allowing everyone to order together or separately. I ordered a pint via my Apple Pay online and had it In hand within minutes. If I had to give any negatives it would be the lack of explanation of the ordering process which could have been a bit better to new diners as it can be quite confusing. Also the men’s bathroom was in some disarray, but not a huge factor. We will definitely be back. Be prepared to pay what I felt was $$$. A bit pricey especially for alcoholic bevies.

Great view of the water, we had wings, bao buns, mozzarella sticks, chicken sandwiches, fish and chips and the blackened fish tacos. All were good, tacos lacked a tiny bit of flavor but all others were great. Drinks were good too!
